Frequently Asked Questions

Q:  Where will the auction be held?

A:  The auction will be held at the Roseville Community Center located 13047 Karl Brown Rd. in Roseville, Ohio.

Q:  What hotels are closest to the auction venue?

A:  The nearest hotels are in Zanesville, Ohio, which is about a 15 minute drive from the auction venue.  Please click here for a list of local hotels and their phone numbers.

Q:  Are there reserves on any pieces?

A:  No.  This is an "absolute" auction meaning there are no reserves or minimum bids.  All of the items will be sold.

Q:  I can't attend the auction in person.  Will I be able to participate and bid?

A:  Yes!  No auction provider makes it easier to bid than Belhorn Auction Services, LLC.  We know not everyone can attend our auctions in person and therefore offer multiple ways for you to bid with us.  They include: 1> Attend the auction in person. 2> Submit absentee bids via phone, fax, e-mail, mail or our interactive website.  3> Place pre-bids on eBay Live. 4> Bid live, in real time, during the auction via eBay Live Auctions from anywhere in the world.

Q:  Is there sales tax and/or a buyer's premium?

A:  Under Ohio Law, the sales from this auction are not subject to Ohio sales tax.  There is a 10% buyer's premium added to the hammer price of each lot.  Lots purchased through eBay Live will be subject to a 15% buyer's premium.

Q:  What time will the auction be?

A:  On Wednesday, July 11th, the auction will start at 9:00 A.M.  On Thursday, July 12th, we will start at 8:30 A.M. with a "Discovery Auction" of approximately 450 uncataloged items.  The cataloged portion of the auction (and eBay Live bidding) will start at 10:00 A.M.

Q:  How long will the auction last?

A:  It is important to note that we will sell at a very fast pace at the auction.  Our goal is to average 120 lots per hour.  Wednesday's auction has approximately 960 lots, which should put us at a 5:00 P.M. finish.  Thursday's session will end at approximately 3:30 P.M.  This will require help from those participating by making bids quickly and early as it's never our goal to miss bids.  Bidders wishing to use eBay Live may decide to put pre-bids in ahead of time to ensure that the pace of the auction doesn't prevent them from bidding live.

Q:  Will there be a preview period?

A:  Yes, on Tuesday, July 10th, after the Hull Pottery Association's Show is finished.  A specific time will be posted soon.  Additionally, pieces can be previewed before and during the auction on each of the auction's days.

Q:  When will I be able to see photos of all of the items on the website?

A:  Over the month of June, we will be cataloging the entire collection with photos and descriptions of all lots.  Please click here to view items that have been cataloged.  Please keep in mind that the collection is over 5,000 pieces and will be updating the online catalog every day or two until it is complete.

Q:  I don't see anything I'm interested in yet in the online catalog.  How will I know if there will be what I'm looking for?

A:  We hope to have the online catalog done by the end of June.  Believe us when we say that this collection has it all!  Take at look at these two photos, which show only about 2/3 of the collection.  Rare and uncommon pieces include the complete line of Tropicana, many LRRH pieces such as a Wolf Jar and others, experimental and trial pieces, many, many Wildflower Number Series pieces including two complete tea sets and much more.  If you collect Hull, there will be something for you.  At this point, it is easier to list what we know is not in the collection.  We do know the following items are not included: LRRH Advertising Plaque (but there will be one available in our July 15th auction in Zanesville!), Open Rose Mermaid Planter, a Five Piece Band and dinosaur bank.

Q:  Why are there so many group lots?

A:  In order to make the best use of all of the bidders' time, we are intending to complete the entire auction in approximately 2,000 lots.  As a result, many items will be offered in group lots.  These group lots can offer a dealer the opportunity to add items to their inventory or give collectors a "starter" set in a particular line.  Efforts will be made to make group lots as sensible as possible with a nice mixture of pieces.
