Belhorn Auction Services, LLC has been commissioned to sell a large collection of Cowan Pottery at public auction as well as select additional consignments from private collections. This auction will consist of approximately 350 lots of Cowan Pottery including many rare pieces that have previously been on loan to the Cowan Pottery Museum in Rocky River, Ohio, including the unique bust of Mrs. Milliken by Alexander Blazys. Additional select consignments include Kicking Horse Bookends and an extremely rare limited edition Nautch Dancer by Waylande Gregory. More details will be posted as soon as they are available. R. Guy Cowan opened his first venture in Lakewood, Ohio, in 1912. In 1917, he moved to Rocky River, Ohio, where the pottery produced lines ranging from commercial wares to artist decorated pieces through 1931.
